Gaye, I’m sorry to tell you that my Dad passed away early this morning.
All his kids and of course, my Mom, had been spending his finals days
gathered around him. He was the best father a person could ask for. I’m
so glad you were able to meet him when you did.

Sue,
Your message is so sweet – and sad. Your Mom honored me with a phone
call the morning of your Dad’s passing. And then your message came
in…
I’m thinking of you all and carrying a sense of personal loss as well.
You’re absolutely right – I, too, am SO glad to have made that trip when
I did. I’m coming back to NJ next month, mid-May, and would have missed
the heart-warming pleasure of sitting with him and enjoying his handsome
smile and slight shyness.
I must share with you the deepest part of my connection to your Dad,
Sue. Yes, he played a vital role in establishing the company and
crewing the international trips. But my personal loss is Ed was among
fewer than five people I know who actually remember my Dad. Thomas
Cowart does not. Jack Stettner cannot. But your Dad did. He had a
visual and personal memory of Saunie which he shared with me. I’ll
cherish that always. That and how welcoming you and your family have
been to me. I feel included even at this distance in this difficult
time and I am honored by it.
Hugs,
Gaye

That’s lovely! Today, after the funeral Mass, we all went back to the house
and celebrated his life by reminiscing, looking at pictures and, of course, eating!
And my brother had found my Dad’s old foot locker and in it was a folder
which had some papers concerning his hiring at United.
There were also 2 nice 8X10 photos that had to do with Veteran’s Air.
Not sure if you have them; I’ve never had the chance to really peruse
the website in depth. But anyway, I plan to pour over the documents in
the folder (a true treasure!) and if I come across any pertinent info, I
will pass it along to you, along with the photos.
Sue
