Subject: Carole and DC-4’s
Hello, Gwen!
Fancy meeting you here!! I cannot thank you enough for your efforts.
That photo of Carole doing the honors is the best of ANY of the
christening women I’ve seen. As I mentioned before, her ENERGY really
makes the whole scene! The caption actually embellishes the information
that was on Glamour Girls, including reference to Mrs. Gloria
Vanderbilt. Are you familiar with Glamour Girls. They were very
helpful to me as well.
I look forward to receiving the image. Thanks for our permission to use
it. I’ll excerpt the caption.
My best,
Gaye

Gaye,
This is wonderful for us as well! Now we have heard the story of your
dad escorting Carole around that afternoon! I hope one day someone in
your family will find the photo of them together. My great friend, Liz,
found your website through a Google alert she received about Carole
Landis content. (Liz is the other fan running the Facebook page for
Carole with me.) I’m happy to be the one following up with you, since
the christening press photo was from my collection.
I have the photo scanned at a lower resolution (300dpi), but since I
pulled it today to get the paper caption info., I’m going to rescan it
higher and also scan the attached caption for you. Hopefully I will get
to it tonight!
Was that Cheryl Messina you spoke to after contacting Glamour Girls? I
met her years ago and I’m afraid we lost touch. I’m going to have to
change that and get back in touch! Who knows what other Carole Landis
research she has uncovered over the years.
I forwarded your website to some friends of mine at the new American
Legacy Museum in California. I don’t know if they might have anything
on Veterans Air Line. They are knee deep in getting their non-profit
going, but I think if you contact them in the future, they might be able
to let you know if they have anything related to your research …
americanlegacymuseum.com goes to the Facebook page for you to bookmark,
americanlegacymuseum.org goes to an actual website.
