Veterans Air legacy research celebrates five years and a Video Library.
A Video Library gets added to the Veterans Air Express webpage. A fitting addition on the 5th anniversary date of this legacy research project.

One gorgeous summer day at Embry-Riddle Daytona Beach campus, three students and I delved into a conversation about Veterans Air Express. The outcome? This 3-part video.
Part 1 of 3-part video featuring unfolding Veterans Air history is released today. Founder’s daughter, Gaye Lyn, tells the story to student research project at Embry-Riddle Florida.
Any invite to talk about Veterans Air delights me. But a live interview by a Prescott radio talk show host to publicize my own talk at Embry-Riddle? That’s pretty sweet! It is fun sharing the story with D. J. Fone on 21 Jan 2020. Come listen.
Team me up with Liz Wilcox, creator of The Virtual Campground and TVC YouTube…and watch us go! Liz gave me eleven minutes. And I gave her the story of how Gracie, the Veterans Air Ground Transport RV, enhances and extends my research. Come watch…and bring popcorn.
Imagine being 95 years old and going back to High School. John Schaus did! Invited to address the students about “where I went and what I did in WWII.” But the rest of the story is even better!! John has a special connection to Ramsey High School in New Jersey – and the Board of Education recognized that connection with a very special honor. Come read what and why.
Non-sked researcher Alan Bender, an Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Professor, agrees to meet and share some of his long-time independent research into, and passion for, the non-sked era in which Veterans Air operated in 1945-1947. Alan bursts with incredible and myriad details — and infectious enthusiasm. This was an amazing opportunity. Come meet The Professor.
Thousands of land and air miles, days and weeks on the road, and terrific contact with folks who live and breath aviation. They shared insights into the history of the Non-sked air line era and showed honest interest in the Veterans Air story. Doesn’t get much better than that!
Elusive Veterans Air records are hopefully not nonexistent. The pursuit of new aviation sources and resources steeped in the non-sked air line era prompted a great journey in June & July 2018. Come see who was on the meet-and-learn-from list between Oregon and Washington DC.
Jammed ten pounds in a five-pound bag…and still had more to share. But I sure had fun telling the Veterans Air Express story at NJ Aviation Hall of Fame last November. I was delighted (and pleasantly stunned) by Executive Director Shea Oakley’s introduction. There’s a YouTube in this post that captures the evening…Dad’s concept, the WWII vets who joined him, a historic UNRRA flight, some conjectures why the airline folded…and more. Give it a look-see.
