Subject: What a surprise!
Dear Mr. Bobinsky.
You have a lovely daughter! Actually, I believe you’ve got more than
one.
I intended to update you on the Daytona Beach project weeks ago. Now,
I’m dropping you into the middle of the story – ’cause I’ve started with
the most important part! Imagine my amazement when Dr. Sally Blomstrom added
Bobinsky to Joey’s first name when she introduced us!
Sally had not deliberately kept Joey’s genealogy a surprise. She just
hadn’t thought about it. All Sally told me was that the student she most
wanted to interview me, who knows the non-sked era best of all, would
not be on campus until July 2. But Sally also gave me the option of
keeping June 24th as originally scheduled. Without even knowing Joey, I
agreed to extend my stay in Florida an extra week because I wanted to give all of
us the best chance to put together the best video. I am extremely glad
for that on all counts!
I must say, Steve, my hopes and expectations for the future of this
country were greatly elevated by spending time with Joey, the two young
women who managed and will edit the video, the young man and woman who
took me on a VIP tour of campus. (Hot stuff am I…VIP, yet!!!) What I
learned on the tour about the University’s programs, and from your own Dr.
Blomstrom! What an honor. What a complement to Veterans Air! And what a
delightful experience for me!
Who knew back in 2015 when you and I first spoke about ER’s non-sked
project that all of this would come about? Certainly not me! I cannot
thank you enough for your continued encouragement and the roles you have
played along my journey.
Research remains to be done. If it’s possible, I am more motivated than
ever. As I told my spectacular ERAU crew, they’ve helped deepen my
appreciation for the importance of legacy.
Hope we talk soon.
My best,
Gaye Lyn
