Marie Martz, dear friend and Ed Martz’s bride.

Ed Martz didn't talk much about his WWII experience, including to his wife, Marie. So the Veterans Air story was really new news.

Marie Martz and the family knew very little about Ed Martz’s World War II service — and nothing at all about his considerable involvement in Veterans Air…until I came along.1 Lucky for me, I got to meet Ed and Marie and two of their four daughters during two visits to their home in New Jersey in November 2015. Sadly, in April the following year, Ed passed away.2

Since our first meeting that November, Marie has become a treasured friend. This delightful, creative, life-engaged woman makes our times together spin by. We’re both knitters and we’re both curious about lots of things in life. So conversations flow. But, there’s one subject that only she inhales and explores with vigor – physics and its interconnected tendrils. Also, as an avid reader of Scientific American, she sometimes shares fascinating stories with me! Next time I visit New Jersey, we will surely enjoy tea time again. I’ll bring my knitting and plan to stay longer. Love to you, Marie.
