Sept 2017 extensive online assistance from Library of Congress. Mind-boggling Oct visit to D.C.

Question History:
Patron: To General Inquiries:
Hello.

I would like to know if the list of publications below – spanning any
portion of 1945 through 1949 – are available for research at LOC. Since
April 2015 I have been researching a all-veterans air line founded by
Saunie Gravely, my Father, in 1945 at Newark & Teterboro airports in New
Jersey. Veterans Air Express and Veterans Air Line. My website is
partial repository for my findings: www.VeteransAir.org.

I am considering a personal visit to the Library of Congress during late
October but need first to confirm access to issues of the listed and
other more general circulation periodicals and newspapers for that time
period.

While I have specific articles I wish to locate as well as doing Keyword
research, it would be most advantageous to be able to actually “browse”
through issues…either physically or electronically. I’m almost as
interested in aviation news occurring concurrent with Dad’s air line as
I am specific mention of the air line itself. It gives me perspective.

So, for starters…

  • Aviation News
  • Aviation Week
  • American Aviation
  • Air Transport
  • Air Transportation
  • Flying Magazine
  • Air Trails Pictorial

And, the majors…

  • Business Week
  • Time
  • etc.

Newspapers like:

  • Newark Evening News
  • Newark Star Ledger
  • New York Herald
  • Louisville Courier Journal (KY)
  • Lexington Herald (KY)
  • Boston Herald

And, of course..

  • New York Times

I am making my first public presentation about this project on November
15 [2017] at the Aviation Hall of Fame of New Jersey. Any pertinent
information I can discover and include will be fabulous.

Thank you for your review of my inquiry.
Best wishes,
Gaye Lyn (that’s my first name)
