Hello, dear Family,

Just checking in. Scott, congrats again on the hotel award. Really

special.

All is well here. I’m planning a June road trip (approx 6/7 thru 7/7)

to visit VA families (maybe even yous guys in FL???) and do some

research. I had really hoped to join you at Mt. Tom this year, but I

cannot make it happen. However, Harry and I will visit the site at the

end of a 3-week Europe vacation. We’re flying back through Boston to

visit with his sister in western MA — she lives about 20 miles from the

crash site! Amazing, isn’t it? So we will go to pay our respects.

But…Gracie and I are coming to FL. Should be down your stretch of the

beaches around June 26-29. Sure hope we can get together. I’ll be

visiting Marilyn Gries as well. She is a precious motivation for

extending my trip. I just must treat myself to our giggles and another

Jewish deli sandwich with her!!! Maybe we could lunch there together!?

I’d love to somehow introduce you all. She’s the personification of

Spirit, Love and Joy.

I’m also headed south instead of to DC, NJ & OH (my original route) due

to an unfolding development at Embry-Riddle, Daytona Beach. They have

an intermittent student research group who focuses on the non-sked era.

That’s us!!! And the Professor in charge has told me that the VAE story

is “interesting and important” and asked if I would agree to a video

interview by a student group. What do you suppose was my answer???? We

have no specific dates yet; it will not be this school term. But I

figured it couldn’t hurt for me to invite myself for a brainstorming

meet & greet. Whether my dates match their academic terms remains to be

seen. I hope to find out this coming week.

I also hope to meet with David Stringer, aviation historian, author and

expert on the non-skeds. He’ll be in Atlanta for two aviation

conferences, one of which is Airliners International – the group that I

addressed last year in DC. I’m going to poke my head in to reacquaint

with a couple vendors I met last year.

Here’s a peak at the current plan — some dates subject to change. Let

me know if it works for you. Al, now that you’re a “free man,” maybe

you can join us? 😉

Hugs and love,

Gaye

Hi Gaye,

You sure are the epitome of energy! It looks like a great trip –

unfortunately Wendy and I won’t be in Fla when you’re there…Too bad!

Sorry I won’t see you or Gracie or Marilyn.

The Embry Riddle activity sounds very promising. I’m sure the

interaction will be mutually beneficial for the students and for you.

You can motivate them and convince them that the best way to learn about

the history of the non-skeds is to to spend their research energies on

VA as a case study. Ditto with David Stringer.

Al
