Thomas, Veterans Air International Flight Engineer, is amused by the publicity stunt for three young dairy stock being flown to Athens as part of their UNRRA war-relief contract. He remembers that young Gus Kaloss was chosen as “handler” on the trip because he is of Greek decent and belongs a youth farmer’s group. He says Elsie is there, too, to “say good-bye.” Looking at the press photos, Thomas explains he is not in any photos because he is “checking the plane; making sure it would fly.” Take a listen.
A conversation with Thomas Cowart about Gus Kaloss, the “handler,” and Elsie, the cow. Yes, that Elsie, long associated with The Bordon Company.
